The Missouri Institute of Natural Science (MINS) in Springfield, MO, is a natural history museum and educational center established to study and showcase fossils from the nearby Riverbluff Cave, the oldest Ice Age fossil cave in North America. The museum highlights include the 40% complete "Henry" the Triceratops, dinosaur fossils, and a hands-on fossil hunting area.
It is recommended for all in attendance to wear close-toed shoes to make the trek to the fossil collection site and to be advised this is an outdoor location traveling about 1/8 mile through wooded areas. So, please dress appropriately and try to bring water bottles in case it is hot on the day of attendance. It is also important to note that the fossil collection site is not handicapped accessible so those with mobility issues may have difficulty participating in this portion of the field trip.
Field trip admission is charged for all students ages 5 and up and adults visiting with our group. (Under 5 is free.) This includes students, siblings, teachers, parents, and chaperones.
